Children & Family Ministries

Jesus, however, said, “Let the little children come to me, and stop keeping them away, because the kingdom from heaven belongs to people like these.” Matthew 19:14

In Baptism, God claims us as His very own. With water and the Word we are declared forgiven children of God. The journey that begins in Baptism is built upon the promise of God’s unfailing love through Jesus Christ, our Lord. It is our desire at Trinity Lutheran to be partners with parents in ministry. We provide a variety of programs that help parents teach their children about the Bible, the love of God, and life long discipleship.

Family Sunday School

Trinity strives to create a community of families doing life alongside each other. We love learning together, playing together, serving together, and growing together as the body of Christ. Family Sunday School is from 9:00- 9:45 a.m. between the 2 worship services. Family-Style Sunday School welcomes all ages of kiddos and their parents/caregivers!  We learn about God’s love through: Bible stories, games, activities, art, music, and service projects. We do a fall party, Christmas program, and Palm Sunday Easter Egg hunt each year. We also sing in worship a handful of times throughout the school year. We would love to have you be a part of our community!

Children’s Ministry News

Family Sunday School is on summer break until September 8. We will have more information and registration to share in mid-August. We hope your summer is filled with many blessings and great memories with family and friends!

Family VBS/Summer in the Son

“Water Works” VBS Family Nights were held in June and we sure had a blast together! We enjoyed 3 fun nights filled with water-themed Bible stories, art, games, science, music, service projects, food, and fellowship. We focused on God’s love through the stories of Jesus’ Baptism, Jesus Walking on Water, and the Miraculous Catch. We are grateful to the 20 families that were a part of serving and growing together this summer! Thank you to all our adult leaders (Courtney, Sarah, Megan, Marie, Dani, and Pastor Paul) and 13 youth leaders for helping make our program so fun! It was wonderful to see the Holy Spirit at work, from the planning to the people called to gather in faith and community with one another.

    • Sunday, August 11: 8:00 a.m. for a practice run prior to the service.

Please reach out to Melissa with any questions, and more information – sign-up sheet, song links, etc.- will be available in July.

First Communion

We invite families to decide for themselves when their child is ready to receive Communion for the first time. Not all children are ready at the same age. Some cues to watch for that show your child may be ready include:

1. Is your child an active participant in worship?
2. Do they talk about what they heard in church and/or ask questions about it?
3. Does your child feel a longing or a spiritual excitement about receiving Communion?
4. Do they feel left out not receiving Communion with others in the community?

If you determine your child is ready to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion, begin having conversations at home, read through the Bible passages about the Last Supper with your child (Matthew 26:17–29; Mark 14:12–25; Luke 22:7–38; and I Corinthians 11:23–25), and talk about it with your child while Communion is served during worship.

Classes take place during Lent and First Communion is served on Maundy Thursday (the Thursday before Easter).

Baptism

Baptisms at Trinity are held the 3rd Sunday of each month. Only three Baptisms are held at each worship service. Baptism class is held every other month. Sponsors (Godparents) and Grandparents are encouraged to attend the class. After completing the form, please return it to the church office. Baptisms will be scheduled as they come in. The church office will confirm your date and service time. Please review the Baptism brochure to understand what it means to have your child Baptized.
