Children & Family Ministries
Jesus, however, said, “Let the little children come to me, and stop keeping them away, because the kingdom from heaven belongs to people like these.” Matthew 19:14
In Baptism, God claims us as His very own. With water and the Word we are declared forgiven children of God. The journey that begins in Baptism is built upon the promise of God’s unfailing love through Jesus Christ, our Lord. It is our desire at Trinity Lutheran to be partners with parents in ministry. We provide a variety of programs that help parents teach their children about the Bible, the love of God, and life long discipleship.

Children’s Ministry News
Thank you to all of the families and Trinity members that helped us collect cans of soup for our Souper Bowl Sunday food drive. We collected 138 cans of soup to support the Trinity food shelf, care closets, and Viking Vittles. Our Sunday School families also made and dropped off 30 personal care kits (bath towel, soap, toothbrush, comb, nail clipper) to Lutheran World Relief and a couple dozen Valentine’s Day cards to Ecumen in North Branch. With Spring Break and Easter in March, this month will fly by! There will be NO Sunday School on March 10, 17, and 31. We will have our family Easter Egg Hunt on Palm Sunday, March 24, at 9:45 a.m. outside on the Trinity lawn. Children will also do their palm branch parade and sing at 10:00 a.m. worship that day. Thank you to everyone who donated candy to support our egg hunt! Wishing all our families Easter Blessings and the light and love of Christ filling their hearts!

First Communion
We invite families to decide for themselves when their child is ready to receive Communion for the first time. Not all children are ready at the same age. Some cues to watch for that show your child may be ready include:
1. Is your child an active participant in worship?
2. Do they talk about what they heard in church and/or ask questions about it?
3. Does your child feel a longing or a spiritual excitement about receiving Communion?
4. Do they feel left out not receiving Communion with others in the community?
If you determine your child is ready to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion, begin having conversations at home, read through the Bible passages about the Last Supper with your child (Matthew 26:17–29; Mark 14:12–25; Luke 22:7–38; and I Corinthians 11:23–25), and talk about it with your child while Communion is served during worship.
Classes take place during Lent and First Communion is served on Maundy Thursday (the Thursday before Easter).
Baptism
Baptisms at Trinity are held the 3rd Sunday of each month. Only three Baptisms are held at each worship service. Baptism class is held every other month. Sponsors (Godparents) and Grandparents are encouraged to attend the class. After completing the form, please return it to the church office. Baptisms will be scheduled as they come in. The church office will confirm your date and service time. Please review the Baptism brochure to understand what it means to have your child Baptized.
